Did you know that past traumatic stressors can increase the likelihood of having Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)? 🌿So, how do you know if the stressors you've experienced would be considered traumatic?Trauma isn't about the external event itself. Rather, trauma looks at the internal experience. How poorly did your body perceive it? How poorly did your body process it?If you stored the tension, stress, and emotions in your body, this event or series of events (whatever that entails) may have been traumatic FOR YOU.Stressors can be one-time occurences, or they can be chronic. They can range from abuse or suppressed emotions to overexercising or even surgery.Trapped stressors can be obvious, or they can be subconscious.Luckily, things like somatic exercises can help to release trapped trauma and tension, even decades later. And, for this reason, somatic exercise can often be an effective initial step in healing and a solid foundation for talk therapy and other treatment options. Are you someone who could stand to benefit by first addressing variables such as muscle memory, non-verbal experiences, neurological patterns, etc., through somatic exercise? More on trauma and somatic exercise in another reel. Stay tuned.Keep in mind that healing is UNIQUE:Healing is NOT linear. Healing takes TIME, PATIENCE, and DEDICATION.But most importantly, HEALING IS POSSIBLE.Let us know if this reel was helpful. Did you learn something new today? Is TMS the same as “shock therapy”? Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is often confused with Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), also known as “electroshock therapy” or “shock therapy.” Since both directly target the brain, they may seem similar, but five distinct differences set them apart. Learn how TMS and ECT help people with treatment-resistant depression, what makes them different, and which therapy could benefit a person living with depression.
