A well sought feature: an expiration date for all sharing links is being rolled out. This feature is anticipated to restrict sharing to a specific period, adding a valuable layer of control to content dissemination. #SharingLinks #SharePointOnline #M365.This is related to message Id MC799277 from the message center."Coming soon: When you share a link in Microsoft 365,Set expiration datewill let users set a date for a link to expire. After a user sets a date and the link expires, the link won't work, and the user will need to make a new link or reshare with people so they can continue to access the file. Before the rollout, users can only set the expiration for links forAnyone. With this rollout, users can also set an expiration on for links forPeople in your organizationandPeople you choose. This message applies to Microsoft 365 apps for the web, for desktop on Windows or Mac, and for mobile on Android or iOS.When this will happen:Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out late June 2024 and expect to complete by early July 2024.General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, and DoD): We will begin rolling out early July 2024 and expect to complete by mid-July 2024."

Configure settings for sharing link for #SharePoint #M365 tenant through #PowerShellOpt for OneDriveDefaultShareLinkScope or CoreDefaultShareLinkScope instead of DefaultSharingLinkType. OneDriveDefaultShareLinkScope sets the default sharing link scope for OneDrive, while CoreDefaultShareLinkScope does the same for SharePoint sites.Choose CoreDefaultShareLinkRole or OneDriveDefaultShareLinkRole instead of DefaultLinkPermission. CoreDefaultShareLinkRole defines the default permission level for sharing links in SharePoint, and OneDriveDefaultShareLinkRole does so for OneDrive.Consider utilizing CoreSharingCapability and OneDriveSharingCapability to customize tenant-level settings for SharePoint and OneDrive sites. Options are- Anyone: Shareable with anyone, including external users.- Organization: Limits sharing within your organization.- SpecificPeople: Restricts sharing to specific individuals.- Uninitialized: Default state before an explicit setting is applied. #SharePoint #OneDrive #Governance #Oversharing #PowerShellExplore more Governance related settings here:- https://lnkd.in/eTB2J3BS- https://lnkd.in/ejPveE2D

Concerned with #oversharing due to #sharinglinks consider updating #SharePoint site sharing setting to default to 'People with existing access', run #powershell script to remove sharing link(s) and use expiration date for any sharing link (rolling out currently), set password for anonymous sharing link and specify recipient permissions (view, edit or review). It can help with #governance #security and #copilotform365 rollout. #sharingisnotcaring as can introduce security risks to your data.

Just discovered a useful new feature on file sharing - you can now "Insert file summary with #Copilot" for your message. This feature offers a convenient way to provide context upfront. #FileSharing #SharePointOnline #CopilotForM365.

Attended enlightening sessions at #Viva #Copilot #AI #MicrosoftMesh and engaging 'Ask Me Anything' panels by #MVPs at Commsverse - The Microsoft Teams Conference. Special thanks to the organizers Mark Vale, Randy Chapman, Martin Boam, Philippa Digby , volunteers, staff, exhibitors, etc.. for a really special event. I did not know conferences can be so cool. Enjoyed exploring the stunning venue of Mercedes-Benz. Took on the adrenaline rush of a lap drive in an AGM car at high speed, navigating corners, turns, and skidding on water. Great experience it would have been without the motion sickness. The cars have a breather. As for Microsoft Mesh, it showcased exciting possibilities, but attending while recovering from motion sickness wasn’t ideal. Witnessing the iconic cars from racing championships 🏆 at the exhibits was truly awe-inspiring. Thank you to Pension Protection Fund for the experience. Grateful to all who enriched this experience with their conversations. 💡Lesley Crook. Microsoft MVP. MCIPR , Lee Ford , Simon Doy ,Dan Toft , Kevin McDonnell Nikki Chapple ,Sara Fennah and many others. On a final note , it was a great event to meet awesome people, discovering what's possible specially around technologies I have not played with, plenty of food to fuel our mind and body and loads of useful give aways from the conference organisers and exhibitors/sponsors: sweets, soft toys ,bookmarks, mouse, water bottles, tumblers, notebooks, pens, etc...
