Red Dead Redemption 2: A Guide To All The Treasure Maps (2024)

Red Dead Redemption 2 is filled to the brim with fun activities. In fact, more than the narrative (which is thrilling all on its own), the open-world environment is what draws gamers in to play and enjoy the game. You can fish, play poker, hunt, craft, shop, collect cards, and more, all to your heart’s content.

Of course, one of the best things to do in Red Dead Redemption 2 is to go find some treasure à la Indiana Jones. There are several treasure maps that will lead you to stashes all around this extensive world. Read on if you want a guide to all the known treasure maps in Red Dead Redemption 2.

10 High Stakes Treasure Map 1

The first High Stakes Treasure Map requires either a random encounter or a bit of money to acquire. The random encounter route means you bump into an old man holding a treasure map. He gets nervous and dodgy when you approach. You’re going to have to take the map from him, but that doesn’t mean you have to shoot him.

Just threaten him a little bit. If that’s not your style, you can purchase this first High Stakes Treasure Map at a fence. This first map should lead you to Cumberland Falls, a waterfall to the west of the town of Valentine. The stash and the next map are behind the falls.

Once you’ve deciphered the second High Stakes Treasure Map (or just checked out this article in order to do so more quickly), it should lead you into the Grizzlies West. The next stash and map are located just a tad to the north of Barrow Lagoon.

Search the area for a fallen tree resting on top of two rocks, forming a kind of bridge. There is a hole inside this tree that you can reach into if you climb on top of it. That’s where the third High Stakes Treasure Map and some treasure can be found.

This final High Stakes Treasure Map calls upon you for some platforming skills, something that doesn’t usually go over too well in the world of Red Dead Redemption. Head to the area north-east of Fort Wallace. There is a rocky hill in that area that you’re going to have to climb.

There’s a ledge pathway between two peaks that you should follow. It’s very narrow, but super obvious that it leads somewhere. At one point, you’ll have to drop down to a ledge below you. If you make it to another ledge across from that one, the treasure will be in an alcove beneath the rocks above you.

7 Jack Hall Gang Treasure Map 1

The first Jack Hall Treasure Map is first in the possession of a treasure hunter named Maximo. He can appear to Arthur Morgan after Chapter Two. He’s hanging around near Flatneck Station. You can buy it from him or steal it from him. If you fail to do either of these things, you can buy the map from a fence later on.

The map is a drawing of Caliban’s Seat, a rocky ridge to the south-west of Valentine. Climb up this ridge (best to do it from the eastern side) and follow a path of rocky ledges till you reach what looks like a gash in the rocks. Walk along the gash in the rock wall, and you’ll find the next Jack Hall Treasure Map.

6 Jack Hall Gang Treasure Map 2

The picture in the second Jack Hall Treasure Map is of the Cotorra Springs, a location to the north of the Cumberland Forest. It’s hard to miss them. The water of the springs is beautifully clear, and what looks like geysers are in the area. To the west of the springs is a strange cluster of rock piles.

These rock piles look to be part of some kind of ceremonial pattern. Forget about the mystery of the rock piles though. You’re there for the treasure. Inside the center rock pile, you will find the third Jack Hall Treasure Map.

The third Jack Hall Treasure Map shows a picture of a lake called O’Creagh’s Run. Make your way to this lake. It’s smack dab in the center of the Grizzlies East.

Once at the lake, you’ll be able to spot an outcropping jutting out from the center of the lake. Wade your way over to it and search this little rocky island. You’ll finally find the entirety of the Jack Hall Gang’s treasure there.

4 Poisonous Trail Map 1

You can’t buy the Poisonous Trail maps at a fence or off of some random stranger. You just have to luckily stumble across it. Or, conversely, you could just look up where it is right here. To find the first Poisonous Trail Map, go to Cairn Lake. This lake is to the southeast of Colter, the first base the Van der Linde Gang took refuge in during Chapter One.

There’s a lodge near Cairn Lake. Look inside the lodge, underneath the bed, and you’ll find the first Poisonous Trail Map. We say map, but it’s more like a drawing. It’s a drawing of a hill that looks like a face. This hill can be found in Lemoyne, north of the Southfield Flats. If you make you way past the face, you’ll find a fallen tree. Search an old, standing tree near this fallen one, and the second Poisonous Trail Map will be inside it.

3 Poisonous Trail Map 2

This next Poisonous Trail Map is tricky. It depicts a strange twisting pattern that looks like a snake. That tiniest of hints should lead you to the area just west of the Van Horn Trading Post. Around that area, there should be what looks like an abandoned watchtower.

Climb up the tower and examine the hills around you. That strange snake pattern should be on one of the hills nearby. There is a mass of stones beside this snake, and within the stones you’ll find the final Poisonous Trail Map.

2 Poisonous Trail Map 3

Red Dead Redemption 2: A Guide To All The Treasure Maps (9)

The third Poisonous Trail Map leads you to a cave system located behind the waterfall in Elysian Pool. As soon as you enter the cave, move to the right. You should find a scary-looking decline that slides you down to a lower level. Once there, look to your right once again. There should be a small tunnel entrance. This tunnel will eventually come to a fork in the “road.”

Pick the right path (literally, the right path), and continue on until you reach a small campsite. After the campsite, you’ll reach a sudden drop into nothingness. Look down and to your left. A small ledge for you to jump on is waiting for you. Go down another slope that leads from this ledge to an area below. A pile of rocks is all that is here for you. Well, a pile of rocks that hides some shiny gold bars for your trouble.

1 Torn Treasure Map 1 And 2

Red Dead Redemption 2: A Guide To All The Treasure Maps (10)

These next two maps must be found on hermits. The Torn Treasure Map requires you to shoot the hermit who holds it in order to acquire it. There is a home called Manito Glade that is north of Annesburg. An angry old man lives there. Once you get rid of him, search the drawers of his house. You should find the first half of the Torn Treasure Map.

The second half is located at the home of a hermit who lives at the very west end of the map. Follow the Little Creek River until you reach its tip. Her home should be right there. Careful though. You will have to deal with not only the hermit woman, but the three dogs she sets upon you. Once you’ve cleaned house, search the drawers of the place and find the second half of the Torn Treasure Map. The completed map leads you to New Austin. There is a cave west of Twin Rocks near Rattlesnake Hollow. Inside, you’ll find a collection of dubious treasure.
